Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Current (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use current.careers and the Current — Save to Track Chrome extension.
What Current is
Current helps job seekers browse roles from company career pages and track applications on a personal board. The Chrome extension lets you save job details from LinkedIn, Indeed, and other pages into your Track board.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we store your email address and display name (if provided). You can sign in with a one-time magic link sent to your email, or with Google OAuth. We do not store account passwords. If you use Google, we receive your Google account email, name, and profile image as provided by Google.
Subscription and billing. If you subscribe to Browse, payment is processed by Stripe. We store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and subscription status so we can unlock features and show billing state. We do not store full card numbers.
Track and job data you save. Content you add to Track—job titles, companies, locations, salary ranges, remote flags, notes, apply URLs, descriptions, board/list organization, and related activity—is stored in our database so you can use the product.
Chrome extension. When you connect the extension, we issue an API token scoped to write to Track. The extension stores that token and your preferred Current app URL in Chrome storage on your device. When you save a job, the extension reads job-related fields from the page you are viewing (for example title, company, location, salary, description, and apply URL) and sends them to Current only after you confirm. The extension does not sell browsing data and does not sync your full browsing history.
Agent / API keys. If you create API keys in Settings (including for agents or MCP), we store hashed keys and metadata such as name, scopes, and last-used time so you can manage access.
Technical logs. Our hosting providers may process standard request logs (IP address, user agent, and timestamps) needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve Current
- Authenticate you and keep your Track data available
- Process subscriptions and show billing status
- Let the Chrome extension create Track cards on your behalf
- Prevent abuse and diagnose outages
- Respond to support requests you send us
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use job content you save to train third-party models or to advertise to you.
Chrome extension permissions
The extension requests permissions needed for its single purpose—saving jobs to your Track board:
- storage — token, app URL, and last board/list choice
- activeTab / scripting / tabs — read the page you choose and show the save UI after you click the extension
- Host access — call
current.careersAPIs; parse LinkedIn/Indeed more reliably; optionally access other sites when you save from them
Extension code ships in the Chrome Web Store package. It does not execute remote code.
Sharing
We share data with service providers only as needed to run Current, including:
- Hosting / database — application hosting and Postgres storage
- Stripe — payment processing
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the service or users. We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties for advertising.
Retention
We keep account and Track data while your account is active. You can disconnect the Chrome extension (which revokes its API key) or delete Track items from the product. If you want your account deleted, contact us using the email below and we will remove account data we control, subject to legal or billing retention where required.
Security
We use industry-standard practices such as one-time sign-in links with short expiry, OAuth with Google, hashed API keys, HTTPS, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; protect access to the email inbox and Google account you use to sign in.
Children
Current is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
International users
Current is operated from Canada. If you access the service from elsewhere, your information may be processed in Canada or in regions where our infrastructure providers operate.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice when appropriate.
